Hawks let 5-2 lead slip and fall in OT to Blues 6-5

Vladimir Tarasenko scored at 3:54 of a whistle-free overtime to give the St. Louis Blues a 6-5 come-from-behind win over the Blackhawks on Wednesday night, handing the defending champions their first home loss this season.Tarasenko, who also had an assist, beat Corey Crawford on the glove side from the slot for his seventh goal after taking a nifty behind-the-back centering pass from Alex Pietrangelo. It came as the Hawks got caught in a bad line change. Alexander Steen scored twice goals, and Robby Fabbri, Jay Bouwmeester and David Backes each had a goal and an assist in regulation for St. Louis, which allowed more than three goals for the first time this season.Patrick Kane, Brent Seabrook, Teuvo Teravainen and Andrew Shaw each had a goal and an assist and Marko Dano – recalled from  Rockford on Monday – got his first goal to help the Blackhawks take a 5-2 lead after one period.

Bulls horrible in 130-105 embarrassing loss to previously winless Hornets.

Jeremy Lamb scored 20 points on 9-of-10 shooting,Nicolas Batum added 18 and the Charlotte Hornets cruised to their first victory of the season, 130-105 over the awful looking Bulls on Tuesday night.I was so bad that even Jeremy Lin had 15 points, Al Jefferson had 14 and Spencer Hawes chipped in with 13 on three 3-pointers as the hot-shooting Hornets shot 14 of 22 from beyond the arc and made 22 of 23 free throws. The Hornets (1-3) led by as many as 27 in the second quarter after starting the game by hitting 13 of 18 shots from the field and all 11 foul shots in the first quarter.Charlotte reached the 100-point plateau in the final seconds of the third quarter on a 3-pointer by Lin.Jimmy Butler led the Bulls (3-2) with a season-high 26 points on 10-of-16 shooting, while Doug McDermott added 17 points.Michael Jordan had to be laughing big time at this!

Patrick Kane and Jonathan Toews each had a goal and an assist to lead the Blackhawks to a 4-2 victory over Los Angeles on Monday night, snapping the Kings’ seven-game winning streak.Kane scored to tie it at 2, then set up Teuvo Teravainen‘s tiebreaking goal in the third as the Hawks scored three goals in the final period. After taking Toews’ pass, Artem Anisimov added a short-handed breakaway goal with 1:33 left to complete the scoring, and the Blackhawks ended a two-game slide. Toews got his fifth goal in five games after not scoring in the opening seven contests to help the Hawks win their sixth straight at home.Alec Martinez scored his first goal of the season and Anze Kopitar got his fourth late in the first period to give the Kings a 2-1 lead. Corey Crawford made 33 saves and Los Angeles’ Jonathan Quick stopped 22 shots.

Vikes get first win in Chicago since 2007, beat Bears 23-20 in OT with late surge.

Adrian Peterson ran for 103 yards and Blair Walsh kicked a 36-yard field goal as time expired to lift the Minnesota Vikings to a 23-20 win over the Bears on Sunday. The Vikings had dropped seven straight at Soldier Field, and it looked like the streak would reach eight when Jay Cutler rolled to his right and plowed over safety Harrison Smith for a 4-yard touchdown with just under five minutes remaining. But two late scores lifted Minnesota (5-2) to its third straight win.Stefon Diggs turned a short pass into a 40-yard TD when he spun aroundSherrick McManis and went up the left side, tying it with 1:49 left. After the Bears (2-5) punted, Teddy Bridgewater hit a leaping Charles Johnson for a 35-yard pass that put the ball on the 27. Two plays later Walsh booted the winner, pumping his right arm as the ball went through the uprights. This snapped a streak of 7 straight losses Minnesota had suffered in Soldier Field dating back to 2007.

Irish escape with 20-17 win, hand Temple first loss

PHILADELPHIA—Notre Dame kept its College Football Playoff hopes alive with a tough victory over the Temple Owls on Saturday night. After leading for most of the night, the Irish fell behind Temple 20-17 with less than five minutes to play, thanks to a 36-yard field goal from the Owls’ Austin Jones. The Irish responded with a six-play, 75-yard drive that ended with a 17-yard touchdown pass from DeShone Kizer to Will Fuller to put the Irish back ahead 24-20.Temple got one more chance to pull off the upset, and keep its dream of an undefeated season alive, but P.J. Walker was picked off by KeiVarae Russell in the final minutes, and the Irish were able to run out the clock to hold on for the 24-20 victory. It wasn’t the prettiest win for Notre Dame, as Temple’s defense lived up to its tough, hard-nosed billing for most of the night, but it was a major performance by Kize, who was picked off twice in the red zone on Saturday night, but he overcame both turnovers to put together a strong effort. He passed for 299 yards, and rushed for another 143 yards, finishing with three total touchdowns, one coming on a 79-yard run.The win improved Notre Dame’s record on the season to 7-1, while Temple drops to 7-1. Notre Dame’s playoff hopes are still alive: Here’s something strange to think about. So far this season Notre Dame has picked up wins against Texas, Georgia Tech and USC, but the most impressive win on its playoff resume might be this one over Temple. This was obviously a win that Notre Dame needed if it wanted to keep its playoff hopes alive. Simply put, no matter what happens elsewhere, the odds of a two-loss Irish team being selected for the playoff are between slim and none, so they needed this win.The Irish also have a chance to add another “resume” win this year, as they finish the regular season with a road game against Stanford. This loss probably doesn’t hurt Temple all that much: If we’re being honest with ourselves, even if Temple went 13-0 during the regular season and won the AAC, it’s likely it would have been left out of the playoff, barring total and utter chaos on the Power Five conferences.
