Giants edge Cubs 1-0, six game sreak snapped

The Cubs saw their six game winning streak end against the NL West leading San Franciscio Giants 1-0.Both starting pitchers were outstanding, and the bats were pretty silent until Rookie Buster Posey decided the outcome in the top of the 8th.Matt Cain saw pretty much the Cubs regular lineup, other that of course Tyler Colvin and Geovany Soto who are both done for the season. He worked six innings, giving up only singles to Kosuke Fukudome and Blake DeWitt. Zambrano left due to a high pitch count(116) after six innings of three hit shutout ball. Andrew Cashner tossed a shutout inning in the 7th,but with one out in the 8th, Posey ripped one to dead center that the wind carried just over Marlon Byrd and into the basket to break the scoreless tie.Ramoln Ramirez worked the 7th for the Giants,Sergio Romo the 8th,and Brian Wilson had a perfect ninth to earn his 44th save.

NOTES—The rain delay at the start was 1:11…..Attendance was 36,364….Marlon Byrd bounced to third to end the game as his bat shattered and a huge portion went wind-milling into the stands behind the Cub third base dugout. Nobody was reported hurt.
