Bears defensive end Gaines Adams died Sunday morning in Greenwood, S.C., at age 26. Adams, drafted fourth overall by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in 2007 and traded to the Bears for a second round draft pick in October, went to the emergency room at Self Regional Hospital and was pronounced dead Sunday morning.Adams played sparingly with the the Bears this past season,but they were counting on him to help with the team’s weak pass rush in 2010. Cause of death was from cardiac arrest due to an enlarged heart.Adams played at Clemson and was the ACC Player of the Year as a Senior.He lived in Greenwood,SC.
