UIC parted ways with men’s basketball coach Howard Moore on Tuesday. Howard compiled a 49-111 record in five seasons.
“I would like to thank the UIC [administration] for giving us the opportunity to coach in the greatest city in the world,” Howard tweeted.
Athletic director Jim Schmidt said the decision was related to the team’s lack of success.
“I want to thank Howard Moore for his five years of commitment to UIC athletics,” Schmidt said. “We have high expectations and aspire to be at the top of the Horizon League and we have not met our competitive goals. We have dedicated and talented student-athletes in the basketball program who are committed and make us optimistic for the future. I wish Howard the very best of luck going forward.”
The Flames (10-24, 4-12) will immediately begin a national search for their next coach.
