Hossa and Eager goals lift Hawks to 2-1 win over Flyers and 2-0 series lead

So now the Blackhawks know they can beat the Philadelphia Flyers in both high scoring games and squeakers. Marian Hossa and Ben Eager scored the two Hawk goals :28 apart late in the second period and that led to a 2-1 win and a two games to one Stanley Cup Finals series lead. That means the Hawks are now just two win away from their first Stanley Cup in 49 years. Antti Niemi was outstanding, especially after giving up the only Flyer goal,by Simon Gagne at 5:20 of the third period while Patrick Sharp was serving a tripping penalty. After that, the Flyers put on all the pressure they could but Niemi shut the door. Things got a bit dicey in the final minute when Michael Leighton was pulled for an extra attacker. It looked as though Sharp was going to score into an empty net, but his shot hit the right post with about 25 second remaining. From there, the Hawks were able to run the clock out.
NOTES—Attendance was 22275….Among those in the stands were Derrick Rose of the Bulls, and former Hawk(and Flyer)Jeremy Roenick….The Flyers outshout the Hawks 33-26….Game three is Wednesday night at 7:05pm(CDT) in Philadelphia.
