Bruce Weber lands new gig–at Kansas State

Bruce Weber’s unemployment didn’t last long. The former Illinois coach, who was let go by U of I Athletic Director Mike Thomas a few weeks ago, has been hired to replace Frank Martin at Kansas State. Weber will be introduced Saturday at 3 p.m. in Manhattan, Kansas. Weber was 210-101 in his tenure at Illinois and 103-54 in five seasons at Southern Illinois. He replaces Frank Martin, who left for South Carolina after leading the Wildcats to four NCAA tournament appearances in five seasons. Weber’s best Illini team was in 2004-05 when they lost only one Regular Season game before winning the Big Ten Tournament, and advanced to the NCAA Championship Game, where they lost by five to North Carolina. Weber gets a five year contract at K-State.
